Pilot work and research

How our pilot and research fit together.

Practical experience from the observation pilot can raise new questions for research. Those questions become separate studies, with their own methods and conclusions.

Observation pilot

Putting observation into practice.

The pilot develops and uses FASO’s observation system to follow model behaviour over time, retain evidence and review changes. Its focus is model-derived drift, with human intervention considered separately when interpreting a change.

Separate FASO research

Investigating wider questions.

The research papers and studies examine questions about AI behaviour, evidence and information passing between models. Each study has its own scope and evidence; an observation from the pilot alone does not establish a research finding.

Independent validation

Examining FASO’s own claims.

Independent review of the observation system and the proposed organisation is covered separately.
